Oil on canvas 20” x 24” x 1.5”

This lonely, yet exquisite ice fragment is one of many that wash up along the volcanic shores of Iceland’s ‘Diamond Beach’. It was originally meant to depict ideas of isolation, as assets, and sometimes entire communities, are left stranded and cut off by rising seas.

However, as the painting progressed, amidst yet another summer of record-breaking wildfires, what emerged instead was a personal clarity around just how much we have come to depend on a fossil fuel-powered world, and how little accountability there is from those most responsible for the emissions that drive climate change and its disastrous effects.

All paintings in this Collection come with a handcrafted wooden frame, made locally using poplar wood and given a clear varnish for a natural finish.

Artist retains all rights to the reproduction of work.
